Dramatic scenery, thrilling wildlife spectacles, and cultural highlights are themes of this summer voyage to the ever-more-popular destinations of Greenland and Iceland.

The Arctic outposts of Greenland and Iceland have emerged front and center on the stage of world travel. Teeming with wildlife, spectacular landscapes, and centuries-old cultures, each of these destinations holds an allure unto itself.

On this two-week North Atlantic sweep, we’ll partner with Zegrahm Expeditions for a voyage to a corner of the world where wildlife is more plentiful than people. In the long days of summer, the seacliffs and surrounding waters of the ocean’s northern reaches are prime breeding and feeding areas for thousands of seabirds, Humpback Whales, and Harp, Ringed, and Bearded seals.

Traveling aboard the lovely Hebridean Sky, we’ll witness scenes of magisterial beauty as we cruise among flotillas of ice, rugged fjords, calving glaciers, and wave-sculpted islets. In Greenland, we’ll navigate the 55-mile-long Prins Christian Sund Channel, witnessing glacier-cut cliffs and frozen waterfalls en route to more breathtaking scenery in Skjoldungen and Nansen fjords. In Iceland, visits to Vigur and Flatey islands present opportunities to view primeval scenery and huge colonies of fulmars, Razorbills, and other cliff-nesting seabirds.

Our time on the water is complemented by excursions on shore to view nesting waterfowl, shorebirds, and landbirds; Arctic Fox and Musk Oxen; and wildflower-carpeted tundra. Cultural activities are a cornerstone, and we’ll have many opportunities to visit handicraft markets, museums, churches, and brightly painted fishing villages.

WEBINAR: With Victor Emanuel & Barry Lyon, July 19, 2017

Our cruise ends in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik, gateway to the scenic wonders of the “Golden Circle,” featuring geysers, lava plains, hot springs, and the magnificent Gullfoss Waterfall.

Superb accommodations and cuisine; varied itinerary includes plenty of cruising time, Zodiac outings, and shore excursions; activities for birders and non-birders; cool to warm weather with rain possible.
