VENTflash #217: Antarctica, South Georgia & the Falklands Cruise-Free Webinar! March 24, 2017
Posted by Victor Emanuel
On Tuesday, April 4, my colleague Barry Lyon and I will host a free webinar in which we’ll discuss VENT’s birding and natural history cruise to Antarctica, South Georgia & the Falkland Islands, January 4-25, 2018.
For this special trip, we’ll travel aboard the beautiful Island Sky, voyaging through the Southern Ocean to some of the most remote places in the world, places home to mesmerizing scenery and unforgettable wildlife spectacles. En route to majestic Antarctica, our travels will take us to the Falkland Islands and incredible South Georgia Island where the greatest diversity of wildlife is found.
Designed for birders and general natural history enthusiasts alike, this program offers a true trip of a lifetime, with chances to experience first-hand the iconic wildlife and scenery of the Far South. Six species of penguins and five species of albatrosses are assured, as are a wealth of other seabirds, whales, seals, fur seals, dolphins and more. The scenery you’ll experience on an Antarctic cruise is unparalleled. Here, ice is king, from ancient cracked glaciers, to giant tabular shelves, to isolated bergs wave-sculpted into masterpieces. This trip will be led by VENT leader Andrew Whittaker who has guided past Antarctica cruises.
This departure is part of VENT’s collaborative cruise program with trusted travel partner, Zegrahm Expeditions.
