Nebraska: Niobrara River Extension

A short extension focusing on the Sharp-tailed Grouse in northeastern Nebraska.

The focus species on our short extension is the Sharp-tailed Grouse, whose whirling courtship dance we will observe in the valley of the Niobrara in northeastern Nebraska. This wild and scenic river is an important meeting place year-round for birds of forest and plains, and we can hope to find anything from longspurs to magpies alongside the mesmerizing antics of the grouse.
