Brian Gibbons grew up in suburban Dallas, where childhood adventures in creeks and parks sparked a lifelong fascination with wildlife. A simple wooden bird feeder and a copy of the Golden Guide ignited his passion for birds—one that would eventually shape his life and career. Thirty years ago, Brian attended two VENT camps for young birders, experiences that cemented his dedication to the natural world.
After college, he embarked on a series of field biology projects that took him from the Caribbean to the Bering Sea and the Arctic reaches of Alaska. His research has long focused on bird banding, with remarkable recoveries including a Wilson’s Warbler tracked from Alaska to Colorado and a Sooty Tern that traveled the world’s oceans for 24 years before returning to the Texas coast.
Brian’s guiding has led him to birding destinations across the United States, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Equally passionate about photography, he loves capturing the beauty and behavior of the birds he studies and pursues. Based in Tucson, Arizona, Brian shares his love of nature with his wife, Lacrecia, and their son, Grayson, and continues to inspire others through his deep knowledge and enthusiasm.
